our MISSION & GOALS
Today's Students: Tomorrow's Innovators.
The Long Island Science Center is a 501(c)3 STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) Learning Museum with a mission to prepare young people for the challenges of a 21st century economy built on advanced technology and innovation.
We ignite curiosity, fuel creativity and unlock the passion for problem-solving and discovery with STEAM curricula, programs and interactive museum experiences designed to cultivate future leaders and engaged citizens.
We are focused on creating these four social impact goals:
Close the gap of STEAM inequities in underserved communities (girls/minorities).
Develop a state-of-the-art makerspace for the expansion of STEAM learning, invention, experimentation and innovation.
Expand our STEAM curricula to include all stages of primary/secondary education (Pre-K – 12th grade).
Highlight the importance/necessity of STEAM education as a critical need for 21st century careers/living.
We are passionate about our goals and dedicated to expanding our mission throughout the community. We have already enriched the lives of over 400,000 students.
