Long Island Science Center
Where in the world are we?
Land Acknowledgement Statement
The Long Island Science Center is an institution of learning. As such, it is our responsibility to acknowledge the sovereignty and the traditional territories of the Corchaug and Shinnecock Nations. Consistent with the Science Center's commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, understanding the historical and current experiences of Native peoples, we recognize and express gratitude for the Indigenous nations who lived and were the stewards of the land we now work in.
We thank the Corchaug and Shinnecock Nations and understand the importance of this acknowledgement. We are honored to be able to work with the indigenous communities and help to foster a love for learning through hands-on science. We acknowledge that Long Island is home to those that were part of the Algonquin people.
