Join other citizen scientists for this hands-on DNA barcoding lab experience! You will learn how to extract DNA from insects and process it for species identification. This project helps scientists understand insect ranges and how they are changing. Your work will contribute to DNA databases with information on insects collected here on Long Island. Participants 13+ can sign up to participate for free.
This event is in collaboration with Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory’s Citizen DNA Barcode Network program, funded by the National Institute of Health. For more information on DNA barcoding, visit www.dnabarcoding101.org.
